The artistic work is always the most eye catching and interesting, but most of what we do at Midtherm Laser Ltd is the simple cutting- squares, rectangles, and other standard shapes. That’s where we focus on precision and repeatability in everyday parts. It might sound boring, but getting them right is really important for all of our customers.
Accurate Cutting Every Time
We cut a huge variety of grades, thicknesses and materials. These can vary from a one-off bespoke item from a scan or a template, up to massive scale projects consisting of thousands of parts. All of these need the same amount of precision and consistency.
We are currently running four fiber lasers. They handle everything from small brackets to large panels, working to ±0.25mm tolerance. That means whether it’s a batch of ten or a batch of a thousand, every part comes out the same.

We recently cut these 700 rectangular plates on our 3kW fiber laser from 2mm 1050 Aluminum. Accuracy and repeatability are consistent across all parts, whether highly detailed or plain like these.

Forming with the Same Precision
Quality and Consistency doesn’t end with cutting, this carries on with forming too. We currently have four press brakes ranging from 55t to 250t and up to 4m long. The smaller presses are normally the go-to machines for large batch forming of small brackets. This is due to the quick set up and ease of bending. Once the tooling is set up, the first part will be the same as the hundredth or thousandth. There is also a seat for when the job is really big!!

Large Batch Work Made Simple
Large quantity cutting and forming can sometimes be suited to ‘common line’ cutting. Where parts are cut joined together in one sheet, then snapped apart after cutting (and sometimes after bending). This doesn’t work for all parts but can reduce the manual time taken to bend very large jobs.

We also have automation and a material storage tower attached to our 10kW laser. This means long runs of parts can be cut out of hours and stored away for unloading at another time.
