Midtherm Laser Charity Head Shave for Cancer Research!
Our Charity head Shave took place on the 13th November. 8 brave volunteers took to the chair where Kate Macaulay, of Re-Twisted Hair Design, was waiting with her clippers!

Earlier this year, we lost our driver and friend, David Hulme, to cancer. We organised a memory bench here at Midtherm Laser but we wanted to do more to help the charity, Cancer Research UK. Many of us here have friends and family who are currently fighting the disease or have lost their fight with it, this loss hit especially hard this year. With this in mind, Anthony Lewis, with the help of Hayley, set about organizing a Charity Head Shave, being the first to volunteer his locks for the chop!
The date was set and the donation page was set up and money started to come in, encouraging more of the lads to join in.
In total, 8 amazing men volunteered to Brave The Shave.
James was first up in the chair. As our driver, we managed to catch him before he headed out on his deliveries.
Mark, our company Director, followed. He was one of the first to put his name forward, setting a fantastic example for the team.
Anthony Lewis, who led the initiative, seemed the most nervous when it was finally his turn for the clippers!
Anthony Easter stepped up next, staying cool, calm, and collected throughout the shave.
Rhys had the most hair to lose and perhaps had the biggest transformation of the day.
Ben has been spotted wearing a hat ever since, leading us to believe he might be missing his hair the most!
Paul happily embraced the shave, the cap that he always wears a cap downstairs might be more essential now!
Andy was last in the chair and seemed happy with his new look.

As a company we have done charity events in the past such as football matches, dress up days and MoVember, but this one has been one of the most successful raising nearly £2000 for Cancer research UK. A charity very close to our hearts following recent personal losses.
Have a watch of our video below to see how the day went.
“I’m really proud of the team for coming together and getting involved. The amount we’ve raised is amazing, and it shows how much of a difference we can make when we all pull together.” Mark Hannon, Director.

Thank you!
A big thank you to everyone who took part, to Hayley and Ant for organizing such a fantastic day, and to Kate for giving her time up to help with the shaving! We’ll always carry Dave and our other friends and family affected by cancer in our hearts. We hope our efforts are something they’d be proud of. There are definitely some chilly heads here now, but it was definitely worth it for such a great cause.

“Thank you all for your generous donations. Your support means everything to us. Despite the sadness we’ve faced this year, the amount raised has truly warmed our hearts. Raising such a large sum in a short time shows the strength of our friends, families, and community. We had a fun (though nervous) time, and a big thank you to Kate for her time and skills. Perhaps next time, we’ll aim for summer! We’re excited for more fundraising events next year and welcome any ideas.” Anthony Lewis.
Also a massive thank you to everyone who has donated so far. Here is the link to our donation page if anyone would like to donate still. We have smashed our target but every little helps!

In Memory of David Hulme and Others Affected by Cancer
Earlier this year, we lost our driver and friend, David Hulme, to cancer. Dave (“Chipper Dave” as we also called him) was with us for 11 years, and we’re all going to miss him more than words can express.
But Dave isn’t the only person in our lives who has been impacted by cancer. Many of us at Midtherm Laser have family members and friends who are currently fighting this disease, or who have lost their battle with it and they are very much in our thoughts as we work to raise money for cancer research.
In his memory, we’ve set up a bench at work, and now we want to take it a step further by raising money for cancer research. It’s our way of honouring not just Dave, but all those affected by cancer, and showing our support to anyone facing this fight.
As part of this effort, we’re holding a Charity Head Shave on 13th November to raise funds for cancer research. Our team is coming together to take part in this bold move to show our support. If you’d like to help us reach our goal, you can donate through our fundraising page here:

Every little bit helps.
Thank you, from all at Midtherm Laser.

Page will be updated after the event.
